FSU Softball Eliminates Utah to Clinch WCWS Berth

For the second time in three years, Florida State is headed to the Women’s College World Series. FSU beat Utah for the second straight time on Saturday 3-0 to win the Tallahassee Super Regional.

Meghan King allowed just four hits in seven innings to pick up the complete game shutout. King faced just two hitters on Friday to pick up the save.

The Seminoles opened the scoring on a 2-run home run by Jessica Warren in the third inning. FSU added an insurance run in the seventh on a well-executed squeeze play by Morgan Klaevemann. FSU picked up the win despite hitting into four double plays.

The Seminoles improve to 53-8 on the season and 5-0 in the NCAA Tournament. Florida State will open the Women’s College World Series, which begins Thursday, against Georgia.
