Florida State third baseman John Sansone was named to the All-ACC first team on Monday while two of his teammates were also honored by the conference.

Sansone, a senior, has been one of Florida State’s most pleasant surprises this season. Sansone is hitting a team-high .372 for the season and leads the ACC in doubles with 22 on the year. He also ranks third in the conference with 80 hits and fourth with 57 RBIs.

Sophomore shortstop Taylor Walls earned a spot on the ACC’s second team. Walls is hitting .362 this year and leads the ACC with 64 runs scored. Walls also leads the Seminoles in on-base percentage and walks and is tied for the team-lead with 12 stolen bases.

Sansone and Walls were each among 43 finalists for the Howser Trophy on Friday.

Catcher Cal Raleigh was named to the conference’s All-Freshman team. Raleigh is hitting .313 this year with a team-high 9 home runs. Raleigh ranks second on the team with 44 RBIs.

Clemson outfielder Seth Beer was named both ACC Freshman of the Year and ACC Player of the Year. Louisville’s Drew Harrington earned Pitcher of the Year honors and Cardinals’ head coach Dan McDonnell was ACC Coach of the Year.

Despite dropping six of eight to close the regular season, Florida State finishes 34-19 and 16-10 against the ACC. The Seminoles will be the No. 4 seed in the ACC Tournament, which begins Tuesday.
