Unlike Florida A&M on Friday, South Carolina managed six hits on Saturday, but couldn’t touch home plate as Florida State blanked the Gamecocks 4-0 to move within one win of the Super Regional.

Jessica Burroughs tossed a no-hitter for FSU on Friday, but had to make her mark in relief on Saturday. Meghan King got the start and worked four shutout innings. After getting out of a bases loaded situation in the fourth, King ran into trouble in the bottom of the 5th after South Carolina put runners on the corners with no one out.

Burroughs replaced King and was able to get out of the jam thanks to a pair of strikeouts and a runner interference call.

FSU broke the scoreless tie in the top of the 6th on a 2-run single from Carsyn Gordon. FSU would add to its lead with two more in the seventh on back-to-back-to-back doubles from Ellie Cooper, Jessica Warren, and Alex Powers.

FSU will have two chances to win one game on Sunday against either South Carolina, South Florida or Florida A&M.
