Clemson scored three runs in the fourth, fifth and eighth innings on Saturday to run away from Florida State in the series-opener by a 10-3 score.

The contest was delayed by rain for more than two hours, but that did little to slow down the Clemson bats. The Tigers pounded out 11 hits on the afternoon to take the opener. FSU falls to 28-12 on the season and 13-5 in ACC play. The middle game of a 3-game set is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST on Sunday.

The Good: The Clemson offense was outstanding on Saturday. Not only did the Tigers grind out 11 hits, but four went for extra bases. Clemson also drew four walks and went 6-for-14 with runners in scoring position.

The Bad: The weekend rotation continues to be less than consistent for FSU. Senior starter Mike Compton had perhaps his worst start of the year, allowing six runs on just five hits in four innings.

The Ugly: Compton may have been off his game on the mound, but the FSU defense behind him was even worse. Although each of Clemson’s 10 runs were earned, the Seminoles committed a season-high four errors.

Studs of the Game: Chris Okey and Weston Wilson each hit 3-run homers for Clemson on Saturday and the two combined for nine RBIs. Okey finished 3-for-5 with five RBIs while Wilson plated four runs. John Sansone and Cal Raleigh each had two hits for the Seminoles.

Duds of the Game: While Compton struggled on the mound for FSU, Ben DeLuzio was 0-for-4 at the plate. Eli White and Andrew Cox were a combined 0-for-9 for the Tigers.
