Roberto Aguayo became the first kicker to be taken in the 2016 NFL Draft when he was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft on Friday night.

Aguayo was selected 59th overall after Tampa Bay acquired the pick in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs. Aguayo becomes the first FSU kicker drafted since Dustin Hopkins went to the New Orleans Saints in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

During his three years as FSU’s placekicker, Aguayo connected on nearly 89 percent of his field goal attempts, including 5-for-8 from 50 yards and beyond. Aguayo won the Lou Groza Award as a redshirt freshman in 2013 before being named a Consensus All-American as a sophomore a year later. Aguayo was 21-for-26 on field goals a season ago. He never missed a kick shorter than 40 yards during his Seminole career.

The Buccaneers open preseason on Aug. 11 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
