One day after reliever Jim Voyles was named to the National College Baseball Hall of Fame’s National Pitcher of the Year watch list, Florida State shortstop Taylor Walls was named to its National Shortstop of the Year watch list.

Walls, a sophomore, was among 54 total shortstops to make the list and one of five from the ACC. Walls leads FSU in walks, runs, doubles, on-base percentage and steals. He also ranks second behind John Sansone for the team-lead in batting average and hits.

Walls is also the ACC’s leader in runs scored with 46 on the season. Walls ranks second in the conference with 15 doubles. Walls has appeared in all 36 games for the Seminoles and is hitting .371 for the season with 23 RBIs.

Walls is expected to be in the leadoff spot this weekend as the Seminoles host Notre Dame for three games. FSU is 25-11 on the season and 10-4 in ACC play.
