FSU’s Voyles Named to Pitcher of the Year Watch List athletics

Florida State junior pitcher Jim Voyles was among 72 players nationally named to the National College Baseball Hall of Fame’s National Pitcher of the Year watch list and one of 11 from the ACC.

Voyles, a 6-7 right-hander, has been outstanding this season for FSU. Voyles leads the team in wins with a perfect 5-0 record to go along with an outstanding 1.02 ERA.

In a 16 appearances this season, Voyles has worked 35 1/3 innings and has struck out 38 batters while issuing just 10 walks. Against Voyles, opponents are hitting just .151. Only starters Mike Compton and Drew Carlton has tossed more innings this season than Voyles.

Voyles and the FSU bullpen are a big reason for the Seminoles’ 25-11 overall record, which includes a 10-4 mark in ACC play. FSU will be home for three games this weekend to host Notre Dame.
