For just the second time this season on Friday night, Florida State was shut out as the Seminoles fell to Wake Forest 9-0 in the first of three games from Winston-Salem.

FSU managed only three hits in the loss and dropped a series opener for the first time in ACC play this season. The Seminoles fell to 22-10 with the loss and 9-3 in conference.

The Good: Pitching was flat out fantastic for the Demon Deacons on Friday night. Starter Parker Dunshee allowed just two hits and three walks in seven shutout innings. Donnie Sellers allowed a hit and a walk in two innings of relief. Both teams were solid in the field with neither committing an error.

The Bad: After a stellar start to the season, the FSU bullpen has been in a bit of a rut of late. In four innings of relief on Friday, Seminole relievers allowed six earned runs and four walks.

The Ugly: Florida State’s bats managed just three total hits on Friday night. FSU is just three games removed from being 2-hit against Louisville.

Studs of the Game: While Dunshee shined on the mound for Wake Forest, Jonathan Pryor and Ben Breazeale each homered. Pryor hit a solo shot in the fourth to get the scoring started while Breazeale put the contest away with a grand slam in the eighth. The two each had a pair of hits and were the game’s only players to have more than one.

Duds of the Game: In an inning of work, Florida State’s Andrew Karp allowed four runs and labored, throwing 27 pitches. The top three of the FSU lineup — Taylor Walls, John Sansone and Cal Raleigh — were each 0-for-4.
