As his teammate Dwayne Bacon did late last month, Florida State guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes will explore entering the NBA Draft, but will not hire an agent, according to ESPN.

After becoming the first freshman in a half century to lead FSU in scoring as a redshirt freshman during the 2014-15 season, Rathan-Mayes took what some considered a step back this past season. Rathan-Mayes ranked among the ACC’s leaders with 4.4 assists per game, but saw his scoring, rebounding and steal averages drop along with his field goal percentage.

For the season, Rathan-Mayes averaged 11.8 points and 2.8 rebounds while shooting less than 41 percent from the field. Rathan-Mayes was held out of a Jan. 20 loss at Louisville in what seemed to be a disciplinary move on the part of head coach Leonard Hamilton.

Rathan-Mayes, a 6-4 redshirt sophomore, will have until late May to make a final decision. The NBA Draft is scheduled for June 23 in Brooklyn.
