Backing for Condoleezza Rice to take over scandal hit NFL

Support is growing for a campaign to draft Condoleezza Rice as Commissioner for the troubled National Football League (NFL).

American football, the country’s most popular sport and a bastion of macho male culture, has suffered one of the worst weeks in its history with three high-profile stars facing accusations of domestic violence.
The crisis has led to calls for Ms Rice, a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan, to step in replace the beleaguered Roger Goodell as Commissioner.

As far back as 2002 Ms Rice described becoming NFL Commissioner as her dream job.

Now she is getting serious backing, including from former members of the Bush administration, for taking on the task of rescuing a sport whose image has taken a severe battering over the last seven days.

Earlier this week the Washington Post carried a piece by a member of its editorial board calling for Ms Rice, 59, to take over from Mr Goodell, who has come under fire over his handling of the domestic violence scandal which has engulfed the sport.

The owners will never elect a person that would actually hold them accountable.

Yeah, threatening mushroom clouds if Congress didn't give authority for Bush to kill 100's of 1000's of people and supporting torture in violation of US and international law is perfect resume material to be the NFL commissioner - especially when sexual and child abuse issues are on the front page.

Trad, there are self-hating Jews, why can't there be self-hating African Americans?

I also just wanted to point out that Trad, for all of his small government talk, wants a former big government thinking employee to run the NFL. I guess she shares his kind of big government love. You know, the kind that helps the country go broke by causing problems around the world and then killing anyone who even looks at us funny, but that won't help it's own people out after this line of thinking has helped destroy the countries economy and civil liberties.

    Babble, babble, babble.

She's led large organizations before. She has a sports background. She has a diplomatic background. She's qualified to lead the NFL out of their self-created wilderness.

What? Is the NFL getting ready to annex the CFL or something?
