One stroke was the difference for Florida State’s men’s golf team as the Seminoles watched their season come to an end in Norman on Wednesday.

Needing to be in the top 5 to advance past the regional and to the NCAA Championships, FSU finished one stroke back of fifth place at -2. Auburn and Arkansas finished in a tie for fourth place at -3 to advance.

Host Oklahoma won the regional by shooting -14 as a team. The Sooners will advance to the NCAA Championships in Stillwater and will be joined BYU and North Florida, who each finished second at -13 during the regional, as well as the Tigers and Razorbacks.

John Pak paced Florida State during the regional, finishing in a tie for seventh place at -5. Travis Trace of North Florida topped the individual leaderboard at -11.

FSU finishes in the same place it began the day — in sixth place. The Seminoles were three strokes back to begin the third and final round and were able to make up ground, but not enough.

Arkansas’ Alvaro Ortiz parred the final hole to seal Florida State’s fate. The Seminoles had advanced to the NCAA Championships in each of the previous six seasons.
