The Daily Nole — April 22, 2018: FSU Women Start Strong, Men Fall Back at ACC Golf Tourney

Lead Story

Florida State’s women’s golf team started strong at the ACC Tournament on Saturday while the men fell back during the second round.

Through one round, the FSU women are in third place at +3. The Seminoles trail leader Duke, who is -6 and Clemson, who is -2. FSU’s Kim Metraux is tied for sixth overall in Greensboro at -1. Duke’s Leona Maguire is the overall leader at -5.

On day two in New London, North Carolina, the FSU men fell from fifth place to eighth at -10. Georgia Tech has a healthy overall lead at -23. FSU’s Bennett Baker is tied for ninth at -6. Thomas Walsh, of Virginia, is the overall leader at -12.

The men will wrap things on up Sunday while the women take part in the second round.

Between the Lines

In addition to golf, FSU softball defeated Louisville 4-0 on Saturday. FSU beach volleyball collected wins over LSU and Georgia State in the CCSA Tournament. FSU baseball defeated Boston College at Fenway Park, 13-7.

On the Agenda

In addition to golf, FSU beach volleyball will wrap up the CCSA Tournament on Sunday. FSU men’s tennis hosts Duke while the women visit Louisville. FSU softball will take on Louisville at 11 a.m. on ACC Network Extra. FSU wraps up a 3-game series at Boston College at noon EST on ACC Network Extra.

FSU baseball defeated Boston College on Sunday with a 6-1 victory.

FSU beach volleyball clinched a third straight CCSA Tournament title with wins over Florida International and LSU.

FSU men’s golf finished ninth overall at the ACC Tournament on Sunday.
