The Daily Nole — April 16, 2018: FSU Beach Volleyball Claims Top Spot in CCSA Tourney

Lead Story

The regular season came to a close for Florida State beach volleyball on Sunday with victories over LSU and Jacksonville State. The Seminoles will now get set to begin the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Tournament.

FSU claimed the No. 1 spot in the tournament and will begin play on Friday against ninth-seeded UNC-Wilmington and No. 8 seed Florida Atlantic. On Saturday, Florida State will face fourth-seeded LSU and No. 5 seed Georgia State. Semifinals and the tournament championship will take place on Sunday.

FSU is 24-6 on the season and ranked No. 7 in the AVCA Poll, but could move up after a perfect 5-0 weekend. The CCSA Tournament takes place in Cartersville, Georgia.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU beach volleyball, FSU men’s tennis defeated Notre Dame on Sunday, 4-3. FSU baseball’s Sunday contest with Duke was canceled due to weather.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Monday.

News and Notes

The ACC will name players of the week for various sports.

FSU fell eight spots in the Baseball America Poll. FSU fell six spots to No. 18 in the D1Baseball.com Poll. The Seminoles fell from 12th to out of the Collegiate Baseball Poll.
