Reaching the Elite Eight for the first time in 25 years means that Florida State basketball will finish with a number by its name.

In the final USA Today Coaches Poll, the Seminoles finish at No. 18. FSU completed the 2017-18 season with a record of 23-12.

After a 9-9 finish in ACC play and an exit in the first ACC Tournament game, the Seminoles earned a No. 9 seed in the NCAA Tournament before pulling off three wins over Missouri, No. 1 seed Xavier and reigning national runner-up Gonzaga.

The season came to a close last weekend with a 58-54 loss to Michigan in the Elite Eight. The Wolverines finished second behind national champion Villanova after falling in the national championship on Monday night, 79-62.

As for FSU, the No. 18 national ranking is six spots higher than its No. 24 finish in last season’s final USA Today Coaches Poll. It is the highest final ranking for FSU since finishing 15th following the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
