The ending wasn’t what Florida State’s women’s basketball had hoped, but the season was a success nonetheless.

For a fourth straight season, the Seminoles will finish the year in the top 15. The final USA Today Coaches Poll was released on Monday with FSU at No. 14. The Associated Press does not release a postseason poll.

FSU finished the year with a record of 26-7. After earning a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament, the Seminoles were upset by 11th-seeded Buffalo in the second round, 86-65.

FSU finished seventh in the final poll last season after falling to South Carolina in the Elite Eight. The Seminoles will have to replace their top three scorers — Shakayla Thomas, Imani Wright and A.J. Alix — next season. If there is any consolation, it may be that the men’s team was faced with that same prospect this past season and reached the Elite Eight.

Notre Dame topped the poll after downing Mississippi State for the national championship in dramatic fashion on Sunday night, 61-58. The Fighting Irish and Seminoles were among five ACC teams in the final poll, along with No. 4 Louisville, No. 12 Duke and 16th-ranked NC State.
