The Daily Nole — March 15, 2018: FSU Beach Volleyball Falls to Top-Ranked Pepperdine

Lead Story

After an 8-0 start, Florida State beach volleyball has now lost four of five.

The fourth-ranked Seminoles fell out west to top-ranked Pepperdine on Wednesday, 4-1. FSU evened things up at one after Madison Fitzpatrick and Molly McBain collected a 3-set win over the Pepperdine combination of Maddie Dilfer and Nikki Lyons, but the Waves clinched the match by winning on courts 2 and 3.

FSU will remain in California on Wednesday for a pair of duals. The Seminoles will take on both Loyola Marymount and Long Beach State.

Between the Lines

In addition to beach volleyball, FSU swimming and diving began the NCAA Championships on Wednesday.

On the Agenda

Aside from the two beach volleyball duals, FSU women’s swimming and diving will resume the NCAA Championships in Columbus, Ohio on Thursday.

News and Notes

FSU basketball is currently listed as a 1.5-point favorite over Missouri in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

FSU softball pitcher Kylee Hanson and outfielder Morgan Klaevemann were named among 30 candidates for the Senior CLASS Award.

FSU baseball will wear shamrock hats for Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day contest with Notre Dame.

The series finale against Notre Dame on Sunday will take place at 11:30 a.m. EST instead of noon.

Former FSU offensive lineman Bobby Meeks has died.
