A couple of second-year Florida State players who have made great improvements on the court this season were recognized by the ACC on Wednesday for strides made in the classroom.

Sophomore guard Trent Forrest and redshirt freshman forward Mfiondu Kabengele were each named to the All-ACC Academic team. To be eligible, one must have a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and throughout the duration of their academic careers.

A sports management major from Chipley, Forrest has come on late this season for Florida State on the court. Forrest has scored a career-high 16 points for the Seminoles in two of their last three games and leads the team, averaging 3.9 assists per game.

Kabengele, a Canadian native and international affairs major, didn’t appear in a game a season ago, but has been huge for the FSU front line this season. Kabengele is averaging seven points and 4.6 rebounds per game this season.

Forrest, Kabengele and the Seminoles have two games remaining — at Clemson on Wednesday night and at home against Boston College on Saturday — before the start of the ACC Tournament. To view the complete All-ACC Academic team, click here.
