Lead Story

Florida State opens its beach volleyball season on Friday and big things are expected of a number of individual Seminoles.

Senior Vanessa Freire was named the CCSA Preseason Player of the Year on Thursday. FSU’s Francesca Goncalves, Brooke Kuhlman and Victoria Paranagua were also named to the preseason All-CCSA team.

The four selections for Florida State was two more than any other school in the conference. The Seminoles open the season with matches against Florida Atlantic and South Carolina.

Between the Lines

FSU swimming and diving opened the ACC Championships on Friday. FSU track and field began the ACC Indoor Championships. FSU women’s basketball defeated Boston College, 67-39.

On the Agenda

In addition to beach volleyball, FSU swimming and diving will resume the ACC Championships on Friday. FSU softball will open the Easton Bama Bash in Tuscaloosa with contests against Northern Iowa and Alabama. FSU baseball will open a 3-game series with Troy at 4 p.m. EST. That airs on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

FSU is moving forward with plans to construct an $85 million football-only facility in the near future.

FSU baseball defeated Troy on Friday, 7-3.
