It’s Friday and the start of Florida State baseball season. As you get set to watch the Seminoles kick off the 2018 campaign on the diamond, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Baseball season is underway for Florida State and the weekend pitching rotation is set.

Lefty Tyler Holton, a junior, will get the start on Friday against Xavier after an outstanding 2017 in which he posted a 10-3 record with 144 strikeouts in 119.1 innings and a 2.34 ERA. Right-hander Cole Sands, also a junior, will get the ball on Saturday and Drew Parrish, a left-handed sophomore, takes the bump on Sunday.

The rotation is similar to the one that toed the rubber for the majority of 2017, although Sands typically threw on Friday night and Holton on Saturday. Drew Carlton was last season’s Opening Day starter against Virginia Commonwealth before eventually being moved to the bullpen.
