It’s the weekend, Florida State fans. As you get the chance to enjoy what’s hopefully your day off, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Add two more Florida State seniors to the list of Seminoles who will compete in postseason All-Star games. Running back Ryan Green and wide receiver Ermon Lane have both been invited to the Tropical Bowl in Daytona Beach on Sunday.

Green spent the majority of his career in the shadows of talented runners like Devonta Freeman, Karlos Williams, Dalvin Cook, Jacques Patrick and Cam Akers. As FSU’s third and sometimes fourth option this past season, Green finished with 127 yards rushing and three touchdowns while catching one pass for five yards.

A former 5-star wide receiver who converted to defensive back, Lane was forced to make the move back to receiver more than midway through the 2017 season. Lane finished the year with eight catches for 169 yards on offense and 12 tackles on defense.

Between the Lines

FSU women’s tennis opened the 2018 season with a 7-0 shutout of Utah on Friday. FSU’s women’s swimming and diving team topped Miami while both the men and women fell to Alabama.

On the Agenda

FSU women’s tennis will continue to compete in Hawaii on Saturday. The men’s team participates in the Florida State Spring Invitational. FSU basketball will host Syracuse at 2 p.m. EST in a contest that airs on ACC Network.
