The pipeline from California to Tallahassee continued on Saturday. 4-star tight end Camren McDonald announced that he was committing to Florida State over California, USC, and Texas A&M, according to a report from 247Sports.

Athleticism and versatility are McDonald’s main traits. He was originally a wide receiver recruit, and it’s possible that he could turn into one if the situation requires it. But right now the plan is to use his 6-foot-4, 205-pound frame at the tight end spot. McDonald is clearly more suited for pass-catching and will probably be used in split formations. He has fantastic playmaking abilities and talent for the position. He ranks as the 292nd recruit overall and 15th best tight end, according to 247Sports composite.

McDonald is another recruit that the Seminoles swept up at the last second. He received his Florida State offer on Dec. 28 and scheduled an official visit for Jan. 19. Within two weeks, the momentum swung heavily in FSU’s favor, and it became the favorite to land McDonald even before National Signing Day. Telly Lockette is listed as his main recruiter and deserves a lot of credit for pulling a blue-chip prospect out of California.

McDonald is the 11th commit of the 2018 FSU class and the lone tight end. His commitment brings the Seminoles to 27th in the nation and sixth in the ACC, according to the Composite.
