The Daily Nole — Jan. 10, 2018: Mike Martin Inducted Into NC Sports Hall of Fame

Florida State head baseball coach Mike Martin has long been a larger than life figure in Tallahassee, but the Charlotte native has been recognized in his home state.

According to a release, Martin will be inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. Martin will be inducted at a May 4 ceremony at the Raleigh Convention Center.

“This is certainly one of the exciting moments in my career to be recognized by my home state of North Carolina,” Martin said in a release. “There are many memories from my time in that great state and I look forward to the induction ceremony in May.”

Martin is set to enter his 39th season as FSU head coach and he has won at least 40 games in each of them. Martin is 32 wins shy of becoming the winningest coach in college baseball history.

FSU basketball will host Louisville on Wednesday night at 9 p.m. EST. The contest airs on Raycom Sports Network.

FSU senior sprinter Chad Mylin and freshman diver Joshua Davidson were recognized by the ACC as the Male Swimmer and Diver of the Week.

Florida State junior sprinter Shauna Helps was named ACC Women’s Indoor Track Performer of the Week.

FSU baseball pitcher Tyler Holton was named a second-team All-American selection and outfielder Jackson Lueck was named a third-teamer by Perfect Game USA.

FSU hoops blew a 17-point lead in a 73-69 home loss to Louisville on Wednesday night.
