Happy Friday, Florida State fans. As your weekend nears, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

It was reported earlier in the week that Telly Lockette would be the first hire for new Florida State head coach Willie Taggart, but now we know what position.

Lockette, a former running backs coach at Oregon State and South Florida, will coach tight ends. That role was previously held by Tim Brewster, who followed former FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher to Texas A&M.

Like Brewster, Lockette is known for his ability to recruit the South Florida area. Prior to joining Taggart’s staff at USF, Lockette was football coach at Miami Central High School where he coached future FSU running backs like Devonta Freeman and Dalvin Cook.
