The Daily Nole — Dec. 11, 2017: FSU Women Handle Arizona State

Lead Story

Florida State remains unconquered on the hardwood so far during the 2017-18 season. In what was arguably the toughest test yet, the No. 13 FSU women passed with flying colors on Sunday with a 77-66 win over Arizona State.

Imani Wright finished with a game-high 22 points to pace the Seminoles while A.J. Alix and Shakayla Thomas each put up double-doubles. Alix finished with 14 points and 11 assists. Thomas recorded 15 points and 10 rebounds.

FSU was paced by a hot start as it led 27-11 after a quarter and never really looked back. The Sun Devils were led by Reili Richardson, who scored 18 points. Robbi Ryan and Kianna Ibis finished with 15 and 11 points, respectively, for Arizona State in the loss.

With the win, the Seminoles move to a perfect 10-0. FSU will visit No. 2 Texas next Sunday.

Between the Lines

In addition to the FSU women beating Arizona State, the FSU men defeated Tulane in Tampa, 72-53.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Monday.

News and Notes

FSU men’s basketball is ranked 19th in both the AP and USA Today Coaches Poll.

The FSU women are up one spot to No. 12 in the AP Poll.

The ACC will name Players of the Week for various sports on Monday.

3-star defensive end Stacy Kirby has decommitted from FSU.

FSU redshirt sophomore safety Derwin James was named a first-team All-American by FWAA.
