The first coaching search in over 40 years has finally concluded at Florida State. According to multiple reports, the Seminoles will hire Oregon head coach Willie Taggart to lead the program.

The job vacancy first opened last Friday when it was announced that Jimbo Fisher would leave for the same position at Texas A&M. Fisher coached the Seminoles for eight seasons and accumulated an 83-23 overall record, along with a national championship in 2013. His departure meant that FSU would be looking for a new head coach for the first time since 1976.

Taggart is only 41 years old but already has seven years of head coaching experience. His previous stops include Western Kentucky, South Florida, and Oregon for this most recent season.

Taggart’s overall record as head coach is 47-50. The Daily Nole looked in to his career in this piece and projected what might change at FSU.

Contract details are unknown at this time. An official announcement from the university is expected either later Tuesday.
