It’s Tuesday, Florida State fans. That also probably means day No. 2 in the Willie Taggart fiasco. For the latest in FSU athletics, keep it here as we update the news and notes section of this post throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State women’s basketball forward Shakayla Thomas was honored in multiple places on Monday after a monster week.

Thomas was named ACC Player of the Week and espnW Player of the Week. In two games against Iowa and James Madison, Thomas averaged 28.5 points per game on 60 percent shooting and averaged seven rebounds.

For the season, Thomas is averaging 22.9 points and 7.3 rebounds while shooting 59 percent from the field. Thomas and the Seminoles will look to stay hot on Thursday when they host Stetson.

FSU basketball defeated No. 5 Florida on Tuesday night, 83-66.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Tuesday.

News and Notes

FSU hoops received six votes in the AP Poll and 13 in the USA Today Coaches Poll on Monday.

FSU safety Derwin James has declared for the 2018 NFL Draft and will not play in the Independence Bowl.

FSU safety Derwin James has been named to the Associated Press’ All-ACC first team.

FSU has named Oregon’s Willie Taggart its next head football coach.

FSU offensive lineman Brock Ruble will forego his final season of eligibility and won’t return in 2018.
