FSU-Louisiana-Monroe: Game Balls

36 years and counting. Florida State got the job done on Saturday in extending the nation’s longest bowl streak with a 42-10 victory over Louisiana-Monroe at Doak Campbell Stadium.

As always, there were certain Seminoles who stood out above the rest. For the final time this regular season, The Daily Nole staff of editor Mike Ferguson, lead writer Clint Eiland, staff writer Josh Mixon and recruiting analyst Jay Brading recognize those who stood out with game balls:

Offense

Mike, Clint, Jay: Jacques Patrick, RB
On a day where Florida State ran the ball better than it did all season, junior running back Jacques Patrick was the biggest reason why. The power back finished with a game-high 155 yards rushing on 19 carries and two touchdowns. Patrick also caught a pair of passes for 38 yards in the victory.

Josh: Odell Haggins, interim head coach and Lawrence Dawsey, co-offensive coordinator
With Jimbo Fisher on his way to College Station, defensive tackles coach Odell Haggins was given the head coaching responsibilities and wide receivers coach Lawrence Dawsey handled the play-calling. The new-look FSU offense proceeded to put up a season-high 504 yards on 7.4 yards per play. The 42 points was the most scored against an FBS opponent this season.

Defense

Unanimous Game Ball: Derwin James, S
In what most believe will be his final game at Doak Campbell Stadium, redshirt sophomore safety Derwin James was all over the field. James recorded a game-high 12 tackles, including 0.5 for loss.

Special Teams

Mike: Amir Rasul, KR
Sophomore running back Amir Rasul returned just one kick on Saturday, but it went for 39 yards — the third longest kickoff return for FSU this season. The return came after ULM had cut the FSU lead to 11 and set the Seminoles up at their own 49-yard-line. They found the end zone three plays later.

Clint, Josh, Jay: Logan Tyler, P
Sophomore punter Logan Tyler kicked just twice on Saturday, but averaged 40.5 yards per punt with a long of 42 and one punt downed inside the 20-yard-line. Four of Tyler’s seven kickoffs went for touchbacks.
