After a 3-year stint in the NFL, Haggins joined the coaching staff at FSU in 1994 as an offensive line and tight ends coach before moving to coach the defensive line in 1996.

As a senior in 1989, Haggins earned All-American honors. Haggins has been an assistant for 13 ACC champion FSU teams and two national championship teams at Florida State.
