The Daily Nole — Dec. 1, 2017: Fisher to Reportedly Be Announced as A&M Coach by Sunday

Lead Story

According to a report from the Houston Chronicle, Texas A&M is expected to announce Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher as its new head coach by Sunday at the latest.

Although chancellor John Sharp did not “name names”, the report says that Fisher will be the guy. The report said that Fisher will earn between $7 and $7.5 million annually for at least five years, but new details emerged later in the evening.

Fisher would be replacing Kevin Sumlin, who was 51-26 in six in years with the program. Fisher is 83-23 with three ACC titles and a national championship in eight years with the Seminoles.

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Thursday.

On the Agenda

FSU volleyball will open the NCAA Tournament at 5:30 p.m. EST on Friday against Washington State. The contest will stream on Huskers.com.

News and Notes

Jimbo Fisher will be leaving Florida State to become the head coach at Texas A&M. Odell Haggins will be the interim for Saturday’s contest with Louisiana-Monroe.

3-star safety John Huggins has decommitted from Florida State.

FSU’s volleyball season ended on Friday night with a 4-set loss to Washington State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
