Florida State is one win away from becoming bowl-eligible after a 3-6 start, but the Seminoles have the look of a program in turmoil.

With a coaching change possibly looming, three FSU commits decommitted on Wednesday night. The first was 4-star cornerback Houston Griffith, who announced he would “reopen his recruitment”.

3-star safety Israel Mukuamu wasn’t far behind.

Griffith, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound prospect from IMG Academy, is the No. 60 overall recruit for 2018, according to the 247Sports Composite, and the ninth best player at his position. Griffith was the second highest rated member of FSU’s 2018 class behind only fellow cornerback Anthony Lytton. Mukuamu, a 6-5, 190-pound prospect from Louisiana, is the No. 541 overall player and the 44th ranked safety.

The third came from center Verdis Brown. The 6-3, 295-pounder, also from IMG Academy, is rated as the No. 203 overall prospect and the fourth best center, according to the Composite.

With FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher expected to go to Texas A&M, there is speculation that this isn’t the end. Amari Gainer, a 2018 linebacker commitment and an FSU legacy told the Tallahassee Democrat that recruits were frustrated with the recent lack of communication from coaches.

With the loss of Griffith, Mukuamu and Brown, FSU’s class falls from ninth nationally to 14th, per the Composite. The Seminoles do still have two 4-star cornerbacks committed in Lytton and Asante Samuel, Jr. John Huggins, a 3-star from Daytona Beach, is the only other committed safety. Brown was the only committed center.
