FSU-Clemson Game Balls

It was another disappointing Saturday for Florida State as the Seminoles’ rally came up short in a 31-14 loss to No. 4 Clemson on Saturday. With the loss, FSU fell to 3-6 on the year and finishes 3-5 in ACC play.

As always, there were some Seminoles who stood out in the defeat. To hand out game balls this week is The Daily Nole staff of editor Mike Ferguson, lead writer Clint Eiland, staff writer Josh Mixon and recruiting analyst Jay Brading:

Offense

Unanimous Game Ball: Ryan Izzo, TE
Florida State redshirt junior tight end Ryan Izzo caught just one pass on Saturday, but what a big one it was. On a play where FSU faked both a jet sweep and a reverse before flipping the ball back to quarterback James Blackman, Izzo came wide open down the field for a 60-yard touchdown. The score cut what was once a 17-0 Clemson lead to three at 17-14.

Defense

Unanimous Game Ball: Brian Burns, DE
FSU couldn’t come away with the win on Saturday, but sophomore defensive end Brian Burns was a man possessed. Burns finished with seven tackles, including 4.5 for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles and a recovery.

Special Teams

Mike, Josh, Jay: Logan Tyler, P
FSU sophomore punter Logan Tyler had a nice day booting the football on Saturday. Tyler averaged nearly 46 yards per punt on seven boots, including a long punt of 59 yards and two downed inside the 20-yard-line.

Clint: Ricky Aguayo, K
FSU sophomore kicker Ricky Aguayo didn’t attempt a field goal on Saturday, but was 2-for-2 on PATs. He’s yet to miss an extra point this season.
