The Daily Nole — Oct. 19, 2017: FSU’s Tyler Added to Ray Guy Watch List

It’s Thursday, Florida State fans, which means we’re just two days away from Florida State’s football contest with Louisville. As the day approaches, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics as we update the news and notes section throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State sophomore specialist Logan Tyler’s recent efforts punting the football have not gone unnoticed.

On Wednesday, Tyler was added to the Ray Guy Award watch list, which annually goes to the nation’s top punter. Tyler is currently averaging 42.1 yards per punt, but has been much better since a dismal effort in the opener against Alabama.

The Ray Guy Award will be given on Dec. 7 during the College Football Award Show. No FSU punter has ever won the award.

Between the Lines

FSU women’s golf finished the Stanford Invitational on Wednesday in 12th place.

On the Agenda

FSU women’s tennis begins the ITA Southeast Regional Championships on Thursday. FSU basketball will play its Garnet and Gold game at 7 p.m. EST. FSU soccer will host Notre Dame at 7 p.m. EST on ACC Network Extra.

FSU women’s basketball has been picked to finish fourth in the ACC for the 2017-18 season.

FSU basketball received one vote in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
