The Florida State Seminoles wrapped up the fall season with a 6-0 victory over the Ontario Blue Jays on Monday. Nine different pitchers took the mound for the Noles in the 4-hit shutout.

Junior catcher Cal Raleigh remained hot during the short fall season as Raleigh connected on his second home run in the first inning against Blue Jays’ starter Jacob Kush.

The Noles’ offense was held scoreless after the Raleigh homer until the fifth inning when redshirt freshman utility player Jered Herron hit a solo home run to push the Seminoles lead out to 3-0.

Kyle Cavanaugh and Mike Salvatore both singled to open the eighth inning. After an error, Nick Derr singled which scored two. FSU plated three in the inning to conclude the scoring.

Junior Tyler Holton got the starting nod for Florida State. He worked one inning, surrendering one hit and striking one batter out. Eight other Noles got work on the bump. Every Seminole who pitched struck out at least one Blue Jay, while no one allowed more than one hit.

Freshmen Austin Pollock, C.J. Van Eyk, Tyler Ahearn, Jonah Scolaro, and Conor Grady combined to throw five complete innings, striking out nine batters. The five freshmen only surrendered two hits and walked just one batter.

The Seminoles will open the season on Feb. 16. The 2018 schedule will be released some time next month.
