The Daily Nole — Oct. 16, 2017: FSU Soccer Falls at Wake

It’s Monday, Florida State fans and for many of us, that means back to the old grind. While the week starts over, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

In a match-up of ranked teams on Sunday, Florida State soccer came up one goal short in a 2-1 loss at Wake Forest.

Bayley Fiest scored goals in the 23rd and 51st minute to lead the Demon Deacons’ victory. FSU’s lone goal came in the 61st minute from Deyna Castellanos. FSU outshot Wake Forest 9-7, but couldn’t find the net enough.

With the loss, FSU falls to 10-4 on the year and 4-3 in ACC play. Up next for the Seminoles is a home contest with Notre Dame on Thursday.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU soccer, FSU volleyball took down Duke in four sets on Sunday. FSU men’s tennis continued the ITA Southeast Regional Championships.

On the Agenda

FSU men’s tennis will resume the ITA Southeast Regional Championships on Monday. FSU baseball hosts the Ontario Blue Jays in an exhibition at 3 p.m. The FSU women’s golf team opens the Stanford Intercollegiate.

News and Notes

FSU received one vote in the AP Poll on Sunday.

FSU opens as a 7-point favorite over Louisville.

The ACC will announce players of the week for various sports on Monday.

FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher said the injury to starting guard Derrick Kelly should not be serious.
