A lackluster season continued for Florida State on Saturday, but this time around, the Seminoles managed to get into the win column. With the 17-10 victory over Duke, FSU improved to 2-3 on the year and an even 2-2 in ACC play.

While Saturday’s effort was hardly dominating, there were a few FSU players who were outstanding. The Daily Nole staff of editor Mike Ferguson, lead writer Clint Eiland, staff writer Josh Mixon and recruiting analyst Jay Brading hand out their game balls:

Offense

Unanimous Game Ball: Cam Akers, RB
For the second week in a row, FSU freshman running back Cam Akers broke the 100-yard rushing mark. Akers rushed for 115 yards on 15 carries, including the 42-yard game-winning touchdown with 8:25 to play — the first score of his career. Akers also caught two passes for 20 yards.

Defense

Unanimous Game Ball: Josh Sweat, DE
Junior defensive end Josh Sweat continues to be solid for a deep FSU defensive line. On Saturday, Sweat recorded four tackles, including two for loss and the only sack of the day for the Seminoles. All four tackles were solo stops.

Special Teams

Unanimous Game Ball: Logan Tyler, P
After a tough start to 2017, sophomore punter Logan Tyler continues to improve. On four punts on Saturday, Tyler averaged 52 yards per kick with a long of 61 yards and three of his four punts downed inside the Duke 20-yard-line. Three of Tyler’s four kickoffs went for touchbacks.
