The unofficial start of the 2017-18 basketball season came for Florida State on Friday night as the Seminoles held their annual “Jam with Ham” showcase.

Senior Braian Angola-Rodas won the 3-point competition for the event, beating favorite P.J. Savoy. Junior Terance Mann was the winner of the slam dunk contest.

“Jam with Ham” serves the unofficial beginning of the season. FSU plays its first exhibition game on Oct. 26 against Central Missouri.

Between the Lines

FSU baseball wrapped up its second intrasquad scrimmage on Friday with Garnet beating Gold, 2-0. FSU cross country competed in both the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational and Crimson Classic. FSU volleyball defeated Wake Forest in four sets. FSU swimming and diving was in Durham to face Duke and Virginia Tech. FSU men’s tennis began the ITA Southeastern Regional Championships.

On the Agenda

FSU men’s tennis resumes the ITA Southeastern Regional Championships on Saturday. FSU swimming and diving resumes action in Durham. FSU football will also be in Durham to take on Duke in a contest that begins at noon EST and airs on ESPN2.

News and Notes

Former FSU guard and current Charlotte Hornets’ rookie Dwayne Bacon scored 14 points on Friday in an exhibition win over the Dallas Mavericks.

FSU defeated Duke on Saturday by a 17-10 score.
