Lead Story

In the first Florida State home athletic contest since Hurricane Irma, the FSU volleyball team did not disappoint.

In a match that was scheduled after three others were cancelled, FSU outlasted Auburn, 25-19, 18-25, 27-25, 19-25, 15-12. FSU’s Milica Kubura and Auburn’s Gwyn Jones each finished with a match-high 19 kills. Natasha Calkins wasn’t far behind for the Seminoles with 18 kills while Cecilie Woie led the team with 18 digs.

With the victory, Florida State improves to 6-1. FSU will visit rival Florida on Tuesday.

Between the Lines

FSU men’s golf dropped one spot in the Olympia Fields Invitational on Saturday. The Seminoles are now No. 6 overall and have one day remaining in the contest. Freshman John Pak continued his streak of five rounds with par or less.

On the Agenda

Florida State soccer squares off against North Carolina at 1 p.m. EST in Tallahassee. The Seminoles and the Tar Heels are the two main contenders in the ACC, so Sunday’s game could be one of the best of the season. Golf also wraps up the Olympia Fields Invitational.

News and Notes

FSU fell one spot from No. 10 to No. 11 in the Amway Coaches Poll on Sunday. FSU also fell one spot to 12th in the AP Poll.
