The Daily Nole — Sept. 16, 2017: FSU Women’s Cross Country Wins Va. Tech Invitational

It’s the weekend, Florida State fans. Although you won’t be able to watch your team play football for a second week in a row, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State’s cross country team participated in the Virginia Tech Invitational on Friday and it was a productive day, especially for the women.

The FSU women took home first place, easily ahead of Ohio, host Virginia Tech and Akron. The Seminoles placed the top three finishers in Militsa Mircheva, Jodie Judd and Megan Mooney, respectively.

The men finished in second place behind host Virginia Tech. The top finisher for the FSU men was David Barney, who finished second behind Morehead State’s Farah Abdulkarim.

Between the Lines

In addition to cross country on Friday, FSU golf finished the day in fifth place at the Olympia Fields Invitational.

On the Agenda

FSU golf will continue the Olympia Fields Invitational on Saturday. FSU volleyball will host Auburn at 2 p.m. EST in a contest that airs on ACC Network Extra. FSU football was originally scheduled to host Miami on Saturday, but that game was pushed back to Oct. 7 because of Hurricane Irma.
