It’s Thursday, Florida State fans. As your weekend approaches, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Two Florida State players were named preseason All-Americans on two separate sites as both Sports Illustrated and CBS Sports unveiled All-American teams on Wednesday.

Cornerback Tarvarus McFadden and safety Derwin James were named first-team selections by both publications. Neither of those two have been any stranger to preseason recognition as both have been named to All-American teams and numerous watch lists.

McFadden led the nation in interceptions a year ago as a sophomore with eight, which is tied for the second most for an FSU player in a single season. James was previously named the top player in the country entering 2017 by Sports Illustrated despite appearing in just two games last season. James did everything for FSU as a freshman in 2015 and looked like himself during the spring after a meniscus tear sidelined him for the final 11 games last year.
