Jim Henry of the Tallahassee Democrat has reported that Florida State junior wide receiver Da’Vante Phillips is facing up to five felony charges for various crimes. Those include grand theft and cashing or depositing items with intent to defraud. On the same day, head coach Jimbo Fisher announced that Phillips was suspended indefinitely.

The wide receiver from Miami has struggled to see the field in his years at Florida State. Multiple injuries prevented Phillips from making an impact, and 2017 figured to be the year where he could compete for playing time. Florida State only had seven wide receivers on scholarship before the suspension. Now, it has just six.

Phillips will likely finish his career in Tallahassee with just five receptions for 30 yards in 19 appearances. This story will be updated as more information is forthcoming.

UPDATE: The Tallahassee Democrat has updated its story detailing the charges against Phillips. According to the report, Phillips altered the amount on multiple money orders. The alleged crime took place in January.
