It looks like Florida State is a lock to headback to the NCAA Baseball Tournament for a 40th straight year, but where it plays its regional is up in the air.
According to the latest Baseball America projections released on Wednesday, FSU will be headed for Orlando in a regional hosted by UCF. The Seminoles would be the No. 3 seed in the regional, joined by Auburn and Binghampton in addition to the Knights. FSU was 2-0 at UCF this year.
D1Baseball.com’s latest projections have FSU as the No. 2 seed in Lexington. Kentucky is the top seed in the regional while Indiana is No. 3 and Kent State is the No. 4.
Host sites will be announced Sunday night. The bracket will be unveiled Monday afternoon.
Between the Lines
There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Thursday.
On the Agenda
FSU track and field and men’s golf will each begin the NCAA Championships. Track and field will be in Lexington for the East Preliminaries while golf is in Sugar Grove, Illinois. FSU baseball faces Louisville in the ACC Tournament, beginning at 3 p.m. EST on Raycom Sports Network. FSU softball begins the Tallahassee Regional against LSU at 5 p.m. EST on ESPNU.
News and Notes
4-star linebacker Amari Gainer has committed to Florida State.
FSU topped top-seed Louisville at the ACC Tournament on Friday 6-2 to advance to the ACC Tournament semifinals. FSU will face Duke at 1 p.m. EST on Saturday.
FSU softball scored two runs in its final at-bat to beat LSU on Friday 3-1 in the first game of a best-of-three Tallahassee Super Regional.
