Last weekend, Florida State clinched a fourth straight ACC softball title. This weekend, FSU booked a fifth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament Super Regionals.

The fourth national seed Seminoles capped an undefeated Tallahassee Regional on Sunday with an 8-5 victory over Georgia. It was FSU’s second victory over the Bulldogs in as many days.

Jessie Warren and Dani Morgan each left the yard for Florida State (54-6-1) as the two combined for three runs, four hits and five RBIs. Warren’s 2-run blast in the first inning got the scoring started. Morgan added a 2-run shot of her own in the fifth.

Morgan also had an RBI double during a 3-run third inning for the Seminoles. Carsyn Gordon scored a pair of runs for FSU in the victory while Morgan Klaevemann had a pair of hits and a run scored.

Meghan King was not as effective for FSU in the circle as she was during the first two days of the regional. King pitched into the seventh inning, but after giving up two runs in the frame, was pulled for Jessica Burroughs. Burroughs got Georgia shortstop Lacey Sumerlin to line into a double play to end the game.

Kylie Bass took the loss for Georgia (35-23), allowing seven runs in four innings. Alyssa DiCarlo had a monster day for the Bulldogs, going 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run and four RBIs. The teams combined for five errors in the field.

FSU will move on to the Tallahassee Super Regional where it will host the winner of the Baton Rouge Regional. No. 13 national seed LSU, Louisiana-Lafayette and McNeese State all remain alive.
