Former Florida State All-American defensive end DeMarcus Walker was selected 51st overall on Friday night by the Denver Broncos in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Ranked as a top 10 defensive end prospect by multiple publications, Walker was touted as a polished player with some size concerns. He did not necessarily have the high ceilings of players like Myles Garrett or Malik McDowell, but few players at the college level produced like Walker did.

He left Florida State with the third most sacks in program history and a legacy as one of the best Seminoles ever. His 2016 season saw him rack up 68 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, 16 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and a blocked extra point to preserve a rivalry victory over Miami. For this, he acquired consensus All-American honors, a first-team All-ACC selection, and was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year.

Walker will now continue his football career in Denver, whose defense ranked fourth in the NFL last season.
