It’s Thursday, Florida State fans. For those of you gearing up for the weekend or the NFL Draft for that matter, keep it right here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated.

Lead Story

The NFL Draft gets underway on Thursday, but for one Florida State draft hopeful, it will hardly be a time of celebration.

Wide receiver Travis Rudolph hopes to find a new team while dealing with the death of his father, Darryl. According to reports, Darryl Rudolph was working as a repairman at a night club in Palm Beach County last week when co-worker Paul Senat attempted to move a AK-47 style gun that was on a shelf at the club, authorities said.

When Senat moved the weapon, it fired and struck Darryl Rudolph in the neck, reports said. He died the next day.

According to reports, Senat told law enforcement that the shooting was accidental. The club owner, according to reports, said the weapon was the club’s. Senat is facing charges of manslaughter.

Travis Rudolph, a South Florida native, is hoping to hear his name called in the NFL Draft over the next three days. His father died less than a week before likely seeing his son become a professional athlete. Rudolph has led the Seminoles in receiving in each of the last two seasons.
