Lead Story

Former Florida State running back and NFL Draft hopeful Dalvin Cook’s draft stock was reportedly sabotaged, according to a detailed story from MMQB’s Robert Klemko.

According to the report, a “runner” for an agent spread misinformation about Cook. In the report, Tony Villani who runs XPE Sports in Boca Raton, had found Cook to be a hard worker with a bright future, but started receiving calls after the Senior Bowl, “from scouts and coaches suggesting the opposite. He was told that an agent had started a rumor at the all-star game: Cook was showing up to workouts late—if he came at all—that he’d arrived with alcohol on his breath on occasion, and with unsavory characters from the neighborhood in tow.”

“I told these guys, You know me, you know I’m not going to lie to you… you’ve got it wrong,” Villani said in the report. “It got to the point where I felt I had to go to Dalvin’s agent and tell him about what people were saying.”

Cook is FSU’s all-time leading rusher with 4,464 rushing yards and 46 rushing touchdowns. He’s projected to go in the first round of the draft on Thursday.
