Lead Story

For the fifth straight year, Florida State is the regular season softball champions of the ACC. The Seminoles accomplished that feat by sweeping Louisville in a doubleheader on Sunday.

Things couldn’t have gone much smoother in the first game as FSU beat the Cardinals 11-0 in a contest called after five innings. In the second game however, the Seminoles entered the seventh inning, down 2-0.

Fortunately for FSU, it was able to find some magic as Zoe Casas delivered a 2-run single to force extra innings. After trading runs in the eighth, FSU went ahead for good on an RBI double by Sydney Broderick in a 4-3, 9-inning victory.

With the win, the Seminoles ran their streak of wins over ACC opponents to 25 games going back to last season. FSU will go for the sweep of the Cardinals at 7 p.m. EST on Monday night in a contest that airs on ESPNU.
