It’s Tuesday, Florida State fans. Before you settle in and watch Florida State and Florida duke it out on the diamond, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Unless they meet for a third straight season in the NCAA Tournament, Florida State and Florida will meet for the final time in 2017 on Tuesday night. The Gators won the first two meetings this season in Gainesville and Jacksonville, but the scene now shifts to Tallahassee.

Andrew Karp will get the ball for the Seminoles. Karp is 0-2 this season with both losses coming to Florida, but the losses don’t tell the whole story. Karp struck out a career-high 11 and allowed just one run on March 14 in a 1-0 loss in Gainesville. In the 4-1 Florida victory in Jacksonville on March 28, Karp struggled early as the Gators scored all four of their runs in the first.

On the mound for Florida will be Tyler Dyson, who is 1-0 with a 3.55 ERA this season. Dyson earned the save in the first meeting between the teams this season.

The Seminoles have lost six of nine coming in and are unranked for the first time since 2009. Overall, FSU has lost 14 of 17 to Florida and haven’t beat the Gators during the regular season since April 14, 2015 when Quincy Nieporte hit a 12th inning walk-off home run at Dick Howser Stadium in a 4-3 victory. The contest begins at 6 p.m. EST and airs on ACC Network Extra.
