FSU Takes Huge Tumble in Baseball Polls

After its worst week of the season, Florida State shouldn’t be surprised by a free fall in the polls.

Last week, the Seminoles were in the top 10 in the Baseball America, D1Baseball.com, Collegiate Baseball and NCBWA Polls. FSU even held the top spot in the D1Baseball.com Poll.

Over the last week, the Seminoles went just 1-4. FSU was shut out twice — to Florida and Virginia Tech — and blew an 8-run lead in another loss. FSU fell to Florida and Florida Gulf Coast during the week before dropping two of three to the Hokies over the weekend.

In the Baseball America Poll, the Seminoles slid 12 spots from No. 2 to No. 14. FSU also fell 12 spots in both the D1Baseball.com and Collegiate Baseball Polls.

In the D1Baseball.com Poll, FSU fell from first to No. 13. The Seminoles dropped from sixth to No. 18 in the Collegiate Baseball Poll.

FSU smallest drop and highest ranking comes in the NCBWA Poll. It fell eight spots from fourth to No. 12.

This coming week, Florida State will play four games. The Seminoles host Jacksonville on Tuesday before opening a 3-game set at Notre Dame on Friday.

For the year, FSU is 14-7 and 3-3 in ACC play. That’s the worst 6-game ACC start for the Seminoles since 2010.
