The preseason accolades continued to roll in on Wednesday for a pair of Florida State infielders.

Shortstop Taylor Walls and corner infielder Dylan Busby, both juniors, were each among 55 players named to the Golden Spikes Award watch list. The Golden Spikes Award is the most prestigious individual honor in college baseball and goes to the nation’s top player.

Walls was honored last season as an All-American after hitting .355 with six home runs and 46 RBIs. Busby, after moving from third base to first, emerged late during the 2016 season before finishing with a .323 average, a team-high 14 home runs and 55 RBIs.

Both hope to become the fifth FSU player to take home the honor. Previous winners for the Seminoles were outfielder Mike Fuentes in 1981, pitcher Mike Loynd in 1986, outfielder J.D. Drew in 1997 and catcher Buster Posey in 2008.

The winner will be announced on June 29. FSU opens the 2017 season on Friday against Virginia Commonwealth.
