Happy hump day, Florida State fans. It’s the middle of the week and hopefully everything is well. We’ll keep you posted on the latest in the news and notes section throughout the day.

Lead Story

One of the heroes of last week’s Orange Bowl victory over Michigan will get a new look in 2017. Florida State wide receiver Nyqwan Murray, who scored the game-winning touchdown in Friday’s thrilling 33-32 victory, will drop the zero and switch jersey numbers from 80 to No. 8.

The number was previously worn by receiver Kermit Whitfield, who is a graduating senior, for FSU. Other notable players to wear the number are Terry Anthony, Corey Sawyer, Bryant McFadden, Timmy Jernigan, Devonta Freeman and Jalen Ramsey.

Regardless of what number Murray wears in 2017, he’s expected to continue his improvement as a player. Despite not becoming a major part of the offense until the midway point this past season, Murray finished third on the team with 441 yards receiving and five touchdown grabs. Murray ranked second in yards per catch at 16.3 and fifth in receptions with 27.
